“How to manage difficult people in daily life” Seminar at IIUI | Maheen Mukhtar

Islamabad- A seminar was organized on Oct 8th, 2013 by the Department of Sociology, under the topic of “Managing difficult people in one’s life”. It was supervised by Dr. Noreen Saher. It was held in the Auditorium of Fatima block female campus at International Islamic University. It was organized for mass awareness in dealing with trouble causing problems. Lt. General Abdul Qayyum(R) who has an immense experience in dealing with people at all levels in military, private and governmental sectors, joined as Chief Guest of the event. Speakers included Dr. Khadija Tahir a psychiatrist by profession, Youth Ambassador Ali Moeen Nawazish, Councillor Shabana Arif and Prof. Dr. Aman Ullah khan. There was an enormous turn up by the audience. The theme of the seminar circled around the attitude, behaviour and patterns of daily life. Every point discussed was well-elaborated and followed by an example to ensure the grasp of the audience.

 

Chief Guest General Qayyum highlighted the significance of education, personal evaluation and difference between emotional and logical perspectives. “Leaders should be available to theirs followers and work with an objective in their mind.” said General Qayyum, expressing optimism and hope about the future of the nation.

Speakers emphasized on the vitality of the patterns of behaviours and the importance to amend them as per the need of the situation. There is always a solution to a problem but all we need is to find it with a cool mind. It was declared a compulsion that if a problem is required to be solved then knowing the other person is a must. “Listen to a problem, talk facts instead of forming a preamble, use I-statement and declare your boundaries to settle an argument” said Dr. Tahir. Mr. Nawazish focused on the magnitude of youth in nation’s progress and high aiming as an asset.

 

“Seminars relevant to the current scenarios like this can serve as the cornerstone for the individuals, not only in social but personal life also.” said Amna Naeem, a participant. There was an active participation by the students and speakers entertained all the questions coming from the audience ardently. They encouraged the students to share their personal experiences as well. HOD sociology department, Amber Firdous honoured the guests with bouquets and paid gratitude to them for their time and concern. She also appreciated the supervisor of the seminar Dr. Noreen Saher and the organizers of the seminar. Seminar continued for approximately three hours.

 

Intense and hard situations can be converted into favourable ones if handled with an open mind and discreetly. Flexibility in one’s personality and defining the boundaries can play a key role in turning the scenarios in cool or warm road. This can not only switch the mode but can also kill the problems.
