It’s not a new issue. These days in order to set someone down, you bring ‘women rights commission’ alleging someone of harassment, because after all this si the most weak point for the ‘mard’ and most vulnerable in itself. But on the other hand, we never know who turns out whom, shit happen every day!!
My first introduction with Dr. Ajmal Waheed happened to be on the orientation when I joined Quaid i Azam School of Management Sciences, QAU. The first impression was very typical, he was very ordinary personality. As the time passed the fear and disliking for him developed since I was previously a graduate from a renowned university with over PKR 70,000 per semester, hence, it was difficult for me to get used to this hardworking environment. Earlier the educational span was easy to go but now, as the ritual of QASMS, faculty invaded the hard work in this lazy soul too. As the time passed and my interaction in university with that amazing person increased, I realized how knowledgeable, well informed and insightful his thinking approach is. I believe he is the only person in the department who is master of his field & research; not only that but he also knows how to make his students work devotedly.
Hearing about this awful and obnoxious incident the last day I couldn’t believe if a girl can place her honor on stake by getting media attention in such foul way only to pass the course. Curse! I know that in charge or head of department has no authority to change the marks. It’s all about the will of concerned teacher and once the marks are locked in campus management solution (CMS), these cannot be changed easily. Also the concerned teacher has to write to Vice Chancellor for any amendments, eliminating the role of student from the process.
With 32 plus years of teaching experience, Dr. Ajmal has more than 37 research papers published, 7 books authored and member ship of 19 committees on his credit nationwide. Additionally, having 28 training’s conducted and have spoken 15 seminars; I doubt how on earth a man like him who respects all the females and always apparently busy man gets free time (since he always has some visitors in his office even around the off time too) can find time to harass the opposite gender. This seems joke but this is the kind of joke that makes my heart cry. One of his female colleague said “”I don’t agree with the report. I have been working in the department since 1997. We may have our professional disagreements but I can say this with certainty that Sr Ajmal cannot do such a thing. I believe some people are working on the agenda that if they can’t fight him they need to break him and this kind of allegations is a huge blow to a teachers dignity.
Having a very respectful interaction with Dr. Ajmal for almost 4 years and knowing him over all these years, I believe he is a great man serving the education sector selflessly without any expectation to earn a material reward. He was my supervisor in my M.Phil dissertation; he was angry at me at times for not working up to the mark and I feel no shame in telling that I’m very blessed that he always treated me in a fatherly way. I have myself witnessed during my thesis that the assistant professor always treated his students and whosoever came to his office, in an upright and very decent manner. Without a cent of doubt I admire Dr. Ajmal Waheed as one such devoted educationist who works for the overall betterment of education. He is a person who works for self actualisation not money. He is an administrator who lives with principles. He is one such professor who teaches with due honesty. He is an amazing person who deserves unconditional admiration and appreciation; because these days very few teachers in universities know how to respect, treat and keep a distance from women. overall he is one such ‘MAN’ Who Knows How to Respect & Honor a Woman.
R.E.S.P.E.C.T. for Dr. Ajmal Waheed
