“The only real battle in life is between hanging on and letting go.”

― Shannon L. Alder

We all are fighting our battles, the battles within. Some open themselves and embrace the world and the new exciting things it has to offer while others just shut themselves to the world and its people. It’s nothing new, we all have been there, at least once.

They say the greatest battle lies within, I won’t disagree. Sometimes your biggest enemy is your own heart. Pulling you towards the things you shouldn’t be around, dragging you to places you should’ve never goneto and forcing you to see things you should’ve never seen. It’s like being standing at the edge of the cliff enjoying and fearing at the same time the “what ifs” of life. No matter what you do, your heart keeps asking for more.

But this is the same heart that gives you hope when you are disheartened and hopeless. This is the same heart that gives you a red signal when you are making a wrong move and it’s the same heart that makes you fall in love again in life even with scars on it.

This world makes us weary and exhausted. The life and its lights are too much to absorb for a man. It’s like, our soul is draining year after year. If we are like this at 25 then who would want to live till 85? But then, life hits us with its intriguing new discoveries and adventures. We are automatically drawn towards it and are lost again in it. Until later we realize it’s not what we asked for, nothing is.

Having nothing at all or having everything leads a man to wander. It’s always the excess of something or the loss of something that makes a man feel unfulfilled and unsatisfied. After all, human nature is never pleased, always looking for something to give meaning to its existence. Nevertheless in this jumble, we constantly forget who holds all the cards, we do. All we need to do is flip the cards and see, actually see through it and realize we do too drive our destiny. Blaming God or the people around isn’t the answer or solution to our queries.

I think, we are dying out souls. Fighting ourselves and each other every day to stay alive. And for what? To suffer more? Nonetheless, Life isn’t all about happiness, it’s about sacrifice. It’s about forgiveness, it’s about adaptation and it’s about learning to know, that it’s only the beginning.

Not all battles can be won and not all winners are champions. To win this battle within, one must learn not to avoid happiness, because avoiding unhappiness isn’t the path towards happiness. It’s about embracing what comes your way. Embrace your scars and wounds, for there is nothing more beautiful that a broken soul.Once you find a way to give meaning to your life on earth is the moment you find peace within. At the end of the day, the places, the people or the things doesn’t matter, it’s the mind and the heart that matters the most.  Hold on to it tight, because we are the endangered souls.

“In the midst of the turbulence, we hang onto hope.”

― Lailah Gifty Akita, Pearls of Wisdom: Great mind
